Why this glossary exists

Most social-media glossaries are keyword bait: a sentence of filler, a definition that restates the term, and a signup wall. These pages are built the opposite way — each one opens with a definition precise enough to quote on its own, then explains the underlying mechanism, then answers the three questions people actually ask next.

That structure is deliberate. It is what makes an entry useful to a person skimming for ten seconds, and it is also what makes it extractable by search engines and AI assistants answering "what is X." Where a term is contested, disputed, or undocumented by the platform, the entry says so rather than inventing false precision.
